Lapis lazuli stone is extracted by the mining company Las Flores de los Andes S.A, who owns the biggest deposit of the South American Hemisphere. This mine is located at fourteen thousand feet high in Chile. The natural Lapis lazuli stone is extracted and classified by size and quality. The Lapis gemstone was described centuries ago as the "Blue Gold" and it has been cherished by mankind for more than five thousand years, be it as jewerly, ornaments, mosaics, paintings and decorative items. Lapis lazuli remains in high demand today because of its great elegance and beauty.

Lapis Design S.A., a direct subsidiary of Las Flores de los Andes S.A., is concerned with the industrial manufacturing of high quality Lapis Lazuli products, like home, desk and corporate gifts. But also all kinds of architectural Lapis lazuli products: like natural Lapis lazuli tiles. Lapis Design S.A. has an industrial production plant, which is combined with the experience in carving Lapis lazuli stones, and in manufacturing engineered stones, and the availability of raw LAPIS material from its mine in Chile.

Lapis Lazuli has a history of more than five thousand years as jewerly, ornamental art and as a pigment. Lapis Pigment S.A direct subsidiary of Las Flores de los Andes S.A produces in industrial quantities Lapis lazuli Inorganic Pigment which was once only attainable in small quantities. Recent advancements in refining technology has made it possible to produce a pure natural Lapis lazuli Pigment of consistent high quality in commercial quantities. The pure royal blue pigment, is also known as natural ultramarine blue and it is extracted from the gemstone:LAPIS LAZULI. The great artists of the Renaissance period inmortalised the blue ultramarine pigment in their famous paintings. The value of the pigment then exceeded the price of gold. That is why we call it the Blue Gold.
